We hope you've had a wonderful festive season & a great start to 2013!

Tomorrow 11am we kick off Big Ideas Series 6 with ABC1 SHORTCUTS - two great talks from London's Royal Society of the Arts: Hanna Rosin - The End of Men & the Rise of Women, followed by a discussion by Nicolas Berggruen & Nathan Gardels about different perspectives on democracy. Then David Malouf gives an insider's view on the Jeffrey Smart retrospective at the University of SA 's Anne & Gordon Samstag Museum of Art in Adelaide. (The Jeffery Smart  exhibition will be at TarraWarra Museum of Art - Healesville VIC until 31st March 2013)

Wednesday 11am on ABC1 EXTENDED - David Williamson, the playwright who started his career as a mechanical engineer, reflects on the 'python squeeze' he says could destroy the creative arts in this country in his lecture at The University of Notre Dame in Fremantle WA for the National Tertiary Education Union.

At the new time of Friday 11.30pm on ABCNEWS24 - David Malouf gives an insider's take on Jeffrey Smart's paintings. Malouf is a great friend and neighbour of Smart's in Italy and he speaks with a lot of warmth, painterly knowledge and humour about the construction and impact of Smart's work.

Sunday at 10.30pm on ABCNEWS24 - an extract from a very good Australian Council for International Development session held in Canberra late last year, featuring Yolanda Kakabadse, Fiu Mataese Elisara-La'ulu, and Owen Barder, the panel goes back to basics regarding development and the big challenges presented by climate change.
