"Australia prides itself on upholding human rights and it does so through statute law as opposed to a Charter of Rights or changing the Constitution. Whilst there are some advantages to statute law, governments can change, suspend and remove them. My question is to Hannah McGlade. With the suspension of the Racial Discrimination Act for the Northern Territory Intervention, is statute law an effective means of securing human rights, especially for indigenous people?
