666 plans to mix it up in 2013

666 ABC Canberra is set to make changes to its on-air schedule in 2013.

These enhancements are designed to capitalise on local editorial contact in the community and create new programming perspectives for audiences in Canberra and the surrounding capital region.

In 2013, listeners will hear the 666 ABC Canberra people they know and trust, but in a variety of different ways, explains Local Radio Manager, Andrea Ho.

"The revised line-up plays to the strengths of our existing presenters, while introducing two fresh voices to the Canberra audience," said Andrea. "Next year 666 ABC Canberra will provide bold and creative content that reaches existing and new audiences on radio, online and third party platforms."

Changes in 2013 will see Alex Sloan and Genevieve Jacobs swap the Morning and Afternoon time slots; Louise Maher will take on the Local Field Reporter position, which will be re-introduced in 2013; Adam Shirley, who has worked on 7.30ACT and backfilled roles on 666, will move into the Drive presenter seat; Melanie Tait, who has presented and produced 666 programs, will move into the Sunday Brunch presenter seat; and the hugely popular Conversations with Richard Fidler will be on air at 11am each weekday with a unique one-hour in-depth interview series.

Tandem House is ready for a Spruce Up with 666 this Saturday

666 ABC Canberra together with community volunteers are poised to descend on Tandem House this Saturday morning for the annual 666 Saturday Spruce Up event. With a major focus on the garden and grounds, the community will come together to give back this festive season.

Tandem House is the ACT's largest provider of respite care. They were selected by 666 ABC Canberra as the non-for profit organisation to receive the Spruce Up treatment in September 2012.

The front and back of the Tandem House grounds at Lyons Youth Haven Westwood Farm will be completely transformed with fresh new turf, pavers and granite; over 400 new ground cover plants; a kids play area; and new sensory herb gardens.

All the materials and resources are donated by the community. The Spruce Up is an annual event 666 ABC Canberra have facilitated for the past five years.

Join the 666 Saturday Breakfast team as they broadcast live from the site, this Saturday.
