Live: East coast flood disaster

Floodwaters in Bundaberg are still rising slowly, with more than 7,000 people unable to return to their homes as the city remains in the grip of its worst flood on record.

Widespread flooding continues to be felt across Australia's east coast, and in Grafton residents are waiting anxiously to see if the swollen Clarence River breaks the town's flood levee.

This morning's peak in Brisbane was not as bad as previously feared but residents are being asked to conserve water.

Overnight, the death toll from the unfolding flood crisis rose to four, with a three-year-old boy dying in Brisbane after suffering head injuries when a tree fell on him on Monday morning.
