In June this year Pope Benedict XVI established "The Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross" in Australia as part of a global initiative designed specifically for Anglicans wanting to enter full communion with the Catholic Church. The Ordinariate has the status of a diocese, and allows Anglicans to retain some of their customs and liturgical traditions. In Britain, Anglicans unhappy with women Bishops and blessing of same sex unions are joining up in large numbers. Compass examines what impact the Ordinariate is having on religious life here by travelling to Perth, Melbourne and Rockhampton to meet some of the Anglican clergy and parishioners making the historic move. Next week, on the 50th anniversary of Vatican II Compass revisits the three year council that changed the Catholic Church, and examines how its reforms have fared over the past five decades in a two part special The Lost War of the Vatican . | |||
