Tomorrow 11am on ABC1 SHORTCUTS presents a trilogy of great discussions from this year's Melbourne Writers Festival. Each session features impressive writers from The New Yorker. See The Art Game with art critic Peter Schjeldahl, Tony Ellwood, and Michael Cathcart; On Obsession with David Grann and James Button; and lastly Dancing About Architecture with Sasha Frere-Jones in conversation with Robert Forster (The Go-Betweens).

Wednesday 11am on ABC1 - Should parents have the option to 'build a baby' with a wish list of 'best attributes'? The proposition for this Sydney IQ2 Debate - There's nothing wrong with designer babies. Is this a boon to humankind or unnatural interference?

Saturday 10.30pm on ABCNEWS24 novelist Chloe Hooper talks with Stephen Romei literary editor at The Australian. Hooper is in conversation with Romei at this year's Melbourne Writers Festival talking about her latest work - The Engagement, best described as an erotic thriller. It's a big departure from her earlier books but Hooper does 'gothic erotic' very well.

Sunday 11.30pm on ABCNEWS24 - The Guardian describes best selling travel writer Pico Iyer's process such that "he has not so much travelled as wrenched himself from place to place; he has found kindred disquieted souls in disquieting locations". But this conversation is built around his latest work produced earlier this year titled The Man Within My Head. This is a compelling conversation with Michael McGirr at the Melbourne Writers Festival.

Watch more with Chloe Hooper, see Robert Forster in conversation with Paul Kelly, and watch an earlier debate on designer babies in our Editor's Picks below...
