| Welcome to this week's edition of Sports Lounge. Your guide to sport on Australia Network. The race that stops a nation is just around the corner. You could say when it comes to waiting for that one day of the year, we're rounding the last bend and coming into the final straight at Flemington as the noise from the cheering crowd grows and the punters wave their racing guides in the air. Yes, we are talking about the Melbourne Cup, to be held this year on Tuesday 6th November and Australia Network will provide live coverage of the race. So it's time for the ladies to dust off the hats and the gents to put a flower in the lapel as we all prepare for that one day of the year to stop whatever we're doing in order to watch a horse race. In the meantime though, polish up on your sporting prowess and spend this Saturday afternoon with all the action from the Cairns Triathlon as 1500 athletes from more than 17 countries compete in a 3.8 km swim, 180km cycle and 42 km run.
