Congratulations to Anna Dowsley, winner of last night's Australian Singing Competition. The young mezzo soprano from NSW won the prestigious Marianne Mathy Scholarship ('The Mathy') after a dazzling performance at the Sydney Opera House hosted by Guy Noble and broadcast live on ABC Classic FM.

IMPOSSIBLE ORCHESTRA - SUPPORT CARERS
Highlight

If you're in Melbourne this weekend, you're invited to be part a world-first event for a good cause. As part of the national Care Aware campaign, the Impossible Orchestra will prove that anything is possible by playing for 24-hours to raise awareness of the 2.6 million Australians who provide unpaid care and support to relatives and friends.

The Impossible Orchestra will be lead by Brett Dean and feature members of the MSO, Orchestra Victoria, the Australian National Academy of Music and musicians from across Australia. It's at Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne, 27 - 28 October. More information and book your FREE seats here .

Highlight

Sunday 28 October, 3pm - French Song

Pianist David Wickham and soprano Lisa Harper-Brown pay tribute to Debussy with his rhapsodic Five Poems of Charles Baudelaire. This afternoon's program also includes Poulenc's The Short Straw (La courte paille), Song Cycle, Ravel's Five Popular Greek Melodies and Duparc's Le manoir de Rosemonde, Romance de Mignon and Phidyle.

This concert will be at the Perth Town Hall. All are welcome to attend, however please be seated by 11:50am as the broadcast begin at 12pm sharp.

Evening Concert - ABC 80th Anniversary Concert Season
As part of the ABC 80th Anniversary Concert Season, tonight's concert is the Gala Opening of the Perth Concert Hall, recorded Friday 26 January 1973. West Australian Symphony Orchestra is featured along with the South Australian Symphony Orchestra, University of WA Choral Society and soloists including soprano Lesley Perrin, mezzo-soprano Kathleen Edgar and tenor Clive Griffiths.

Saturday 27 October - 9pm
Saturday Evening Concert - QSO with Jack Liebeck - LIVE
Live from the Concert Hall of Brisbane's Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra is joined by British violinist Jack Liebeck to perform Brahms' Violin Concerto in D, Op 77, J Strauss' The Blue Danube, Waltz, Op 314 and Schoenberg's Transfigured Night. Conducted by Johannes Fritzsch.

Sunday 28 October - 12pm
Music Makers - Nicolette Fraillon - Conductor (program 1)
The Australian Ballet has been celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and for nearly ten years, Nicolette Fraillon has been the company's Music Director and Chief Conductor. In the first of two programs, Nicolette talks about her early teachers and mentors and her fascinating journey towards becoming a conductor.

Monday 29 October - 8pm
Evening Concert - Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra
As part of the ABC 80th Anniversary Concert Season, we hear the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in concert from 15 July 1994 in Herkulessaal, Munich. We'll hear Brenton Broadstock's
Voices from the Fire (Symphony No 3), Vincent Plush's Pacifica and Roger Smalley's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra.

Tuesday 30 October - 1pm
Afternoon Concert - Australian Brandenburg Orchestra
Recorded on Sunday in the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre, today's concert features Craig Hill (clarinet), Madeleine Easton (violin) and Paul Dyer (continuo/director). In a program titled 'Beautiful Minds', we'll hear Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A, K622 and Violin Concerto No 3 in G, K216 along with Mendelssohn's The Hebrides (Fingal's Cave), Overture, Op 26.

Wednesday 31 October - 8pm
Evening Concert - Queensland Youth Symphony
Recorded in the Concert Hall of the Queensland Performing Arts Complex, tonight's performance is conducted by John Curro and features pianist Jayson Gillham. The program is Butterworth's A Shropshire Lad, Rhapsody, Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No 1 in B flat minor, Op 23 and Chopin's Etude No 13 in A flat, Op 25 No 1.

Thursday 1 November - 1pm
Afternoon Concert - Ensemble Gombert
The Melbourne-based chamber choir Ensemble Gombert was recorded in Xavier College Chapel, Melbourne, performing a program featuring several works by Josquin Deprez, including Salve Regina, In principio erat Verbum and Missa Gaudeamus: Credo.

Friday 2 November - 8.30pm
Evening Concert - The Song Company: Ship to Shore - LIVE
With its hallmark eclecticism, The Song Company presents a program of sea shanties from England, Ireland, Holland and Canada; Portugese Fado; and other songs from across the globe. Conducted by Roland Peelman and featuring Slava Grigoryan (guitar) and Leonard Grigoryan (guitar). Live from the Queensland Conservatorium Theatre, Brisbane.
