Life Matters with Natasha Mitchell

Today on the Life Matters, being poor in a rich city. This Anti-Poverty Week did you know that at least 1 in 8 of us in Australia are living under the poverty line? Today we played excerpts from an anti-poverty forum recorded in Melbourne and there were powerful personal stories on a crucial issue. If you missed the show you can listen here:

On Monday, we enter the alternate universe of Fan Fiction. It is hugely popular and now well beyond its sci-fi origins. We also speak to two not-for-profits who are working to give young people a second chance. The Sister2sister program matches successful women mentors with at-risk teenage girls and the Whitelion Foundation asks employers to give a fresh start to kids from troubled backgrounds.

On Tuesday, a ukulele enthusiast who is leading a musical revolution and we meet the makers of Hail. Hail is a semi-fictional narrative that chronicles Daniel P Jones' attempt to return to society after his most recent stint in gaol.

On Wednesday, a mother's advice to her daughter and Thursday, some fashion tips!
