This year's Boyer Lecturer, Marcia Langton, will join Saturday Extra to discuss some of the more surprising elements of her thesis about the 'Quiet Revolution' that she contends is underway within indigenous politics and finance.

It's election time for two of our most significant regional 'friends', Japan and South Korea: where a woman might be elected for the first time and in Japan, the mood is, well, tricky - a rising China's on its doorstep and it's not exactly springing into the 21st century: so we'll assess both polls and what they might say about their communities.

Plus the challenges facing a vital service in OUR community, decent incomes in retirement - superannuation - and the new wave of much greater scrutiny around it.

And a real treat: the great biographer Victoria Glendinning has turned her attention to that remarkable imperialist-and-much more, Stamford Raffles and why we should know more about him.
