Located 30 kms south-west of the Sydney CBD, in Fairfield City, Bonnyrigg is one of the most culturally and religiously diverse suburbs in Australia. Her album's guitar-toting Spanish producer Javier Limón says, 'For me, flamenco is like the little brother of Indian music.' Traveller is a very happy, richly diverse marriage of (mostly) Subcontinental and Iberian elements, players and singers. There are lovely, playful encounters between Spanish and Indian strings, percussion, voices, hands and dancing feet. Recorded on several continents, Traveller is an unusually close collaboration between primary artist and producer; they co-wrote most of the music's composed notes. Julianne Baird is a Distinguished Professor of Music in the Department of Fine Arts at Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA. In August 2012, she visited Perth as part of the Professors-at-Large program, hosted by the University of Western Australia's Institute of Advanced Studies.
