Tomorrow 11am on ABC1 this week's SHORTCUTS we've got the GFC - treated brilliantly by writer and journalist John Lanchester in conversation with Jason Steger; a riff on the seriously dark side of the genius painter Francis Bacon with the Associate Director of the Sydney Theatre Company Tom Wright, and Aboriginal Exceptionalism with Professor Marcia Langton.

Wednesday 11am on ABC1 - pianist, composer & avid supporter of new music Michael Kieran Harvey delivers the 2012 Peggy Glanville-Hicks Address called 'What Would Peggy Do?' Some pretty fiery opinions about the state of classical music in Australia.

Saturday 10.30pm on ABCNEWS24 the Chief Executive of the Royal Society of the Arts London, Matthew Taylor advocates for a major rethink on the sources of social power and how we harness them. His talk is called The Power to Act: A New Angle on our Toughest Problems and as the UK are still basking in the fading glory of the London Olympics he attempts to isolate what made this event such a transformative one. Can we apply the factors that made that event such a brilliant success, to our lives, our jobs and our economic wealth?

Sunday 11.30pm on ABCNEWS24 the original and provocative thinker - Professor Marcia Langton gives a bold address at this year's Melbourne Writers Festival. The Australian Constitution is yet to recognise Indigenous Australians - this could be changed by a referendum however Langton is cautious about rushing into this too early. In this speech she examines the real friction between bringing Indigenous Australians into the national polity while there still exists 'exceptionalist' institutions that isolate the Aboriginal world from Australian economic and social life.
